Not linked to AIFTI Consulting is ending the jobs of about 4% of its more than 8,200 employees under a plan to align staffing with demand, with every affected employee told by 29 October 2026; the cuts fall across all its segments and regions but mainly in the Middle East and the UK, in its construction business outside the US, in some transformation and strategy ventures in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific, and in its strategic communications segment, and it gave no number of roles.
The reason FTI Consulting gave
"During the third quarter ended September 30, 2026, the Company initiated a plan to align staffing with demand ... which included targeted headcount reductions and real estate-related actions. All affected employees were notified by October 29, 2026, and the Plan included the termination of approximately 4% of the Company's more than 8,200 employees between the third quarter and fourth quarter of 2026."FTI Consulting, in its Form 8-K filed with the SEC on 30 October 2026 (Item 2.05)
Neither the filing nor the results release gives AI as a reason. On the results call of 29 October 2026, filed with the same 8-K, chief financial officer Angela Nam said the cuts were made principally in geographies with challenging market conditions and in bets that were not working, and chief executive Steven Gunby said they were not cyclical layoffs but a clean-up of such bets; Gunby spoke of AI only as a driver of demand for the firm's own services, such as analysing AI algorithms for bias. No report read (MarketWatch's headline, the Yahoo Finance call summary) tied the cut to AI.
