Not linked to AIThe Central Bank of Ireland plans to cut around 120 to 140 roles through a voluntary severance scheme, as part of a programme to take €75 million off its projected spending to 2030, €26 million of it from pay; it did not say which teams (it had 2,225 full-time-equivalent staff at the end of 2025, according to its annual report as RTÉ cited it).
The reason the Central Bank gave
"Part of this strategy is also a commitment to manage core operating costs, which has led to the introduction of a multi-year programme targeting a €75 million reduction in the trajectory of the Bank’s projected expenditure to 2030." ... "Reflecting the investments in our organisational capability and the maturity of the frameworks we have built over the last number of years, the reduction in pay costs will be met through changing the size and shape of the Bank, which is anticipated to lead to a reduction of around 120–140 roles."The Central Bank of Ireland, in its press release on its finance strategy (4 November 2026)
The release does not mention AI or automation. The only technology in it is targeted IT investment, which the bank lists among the savings it will make outside pay, not as a reason roles go, and no report read tied the cut to AI.
