New Jersey's own WARN pageWhat is a WARN notice?
A WARN notice is the written warning the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act requires before a plant closing or a mass layoff: most employers with 100 or more employees must give 60 days' notice, generally when 50 or more workers lose their jobs at one site. The notice goes to the workers, their union and the state, which publishes it. Several states, among them California, New York and New Jersey, have their own WARN laws that reach smaller layoffs or ask for more notice.
