Société Générale layoffs and AI

Not according to Société Générale. It gave no reason for its November 2026 cut, AI or otherwise. No credible outlet or named analyst linked the cut to AI, so it is not in the register of AI-linked job cuts. Its earlier cut, in January 2026, was not linked to AI either.

Société Générale's securities services arm, SG Securities Services, presented a reorganisation in France that removes 120 posts and creates 40, a net loss of 80 of its about 1,500 French staff, with part of the work moving to a group entity in India, by Les Echos' report. It was announced in November 2026. 80 roles, by press reports. Société Générale did not put the number on the record itself.

Société Générale gave no reason. In its own words: "Sur environ 1 500 salariés en France, le solde serait de 80 postes en moins : 120 suppressions, compensées par 40 créations." (Ideal Investisseur, reporting Les Echos (no statement by the bank was quoted)).
